The tower was built at the end of the 19th century by Medo (Jakup) Ferov. After World War II, this tower housed an elementary school. This tower has been thoroughly and very successfully renovated, keeping its authentic form, except for some minor changes to the windows and the addition of a staircase. Opposite the Tower of Mehmed-Med Jakup Ferovoj was the largest tower of Šabović, the Tower of Omer Jakup Ferovoj. It was set on fire and demolished during the Balkan Wars.
