🔹 DID YOU KNOW 🔹
➡️ FIRST LIBRARY IN MONTENEGRO
🔹 Plav, located in a picturesque landscape between mountains and lakes, hides a rich cultural and historical past, and one of the most significant episodes of that past is the existence of the first library on the territory of today's Montenegro.
🔹 This library was an integral part of the Imperial Mosque complex, also known as the Old Mosque in Plav, which was built way back in 1471.
🔹 The founder of this complex, Zejnel-beg Dizdar, was a prominent military and administrative leader who founded this first library as a source of knowledge and education for the army, but also for the wider community.
🔹 The library of Zejnel-beg Dizdar was a kutubhana, that is, an Islamic library, which contained precious manuscripts and books in the fields of Islamic sciences, law, medicine, philosophy and literature.
🔹 This library was unique not only in its content, but also in what it represents.
