Lake Abdija, located in the cirque below the highest peak of Horolac - Jupov peak, proudly holds the title of the lake at the highest altitude in Montenegro, lying at an impressive height of 2,054 meters. This gem of a mountain massif attracts adventurers and nature lovers from all over Montenegro and beyond, who come to enjoy the untouched nature and magnificent landscapes of this region.
The lake is located in a cirque, formed by the action of ice, in a rugged and rather inaccessible area, with poor vegetation around. During the summer months, the lake reaches a length of 50 meters and a width of 40 meters, while its greatest depth is about 4 meters. It can be reached by a road that leads through the valley of the Komaračka and Treskavačka Rivers, through the Bjelaja River, and it is only about 500 meters from the border with Albania (Radojičić, 2005).
Every year, the Tourist Organization of Plav organizes a hiking trip to Lake Abdija, offering hiking enthusiasts the opportunity for an unforgettable adventure through wild, untouched mountain trails. This hike is not only a physical challenge, but also an opportunity for spiritual connection with nature, far from the everyday hectic pace. The ascent to the lake leads through beautiful landscapes, rich in different types of flora and fauna, which further enriches the experience of every hiker.
