In July 2019, the European championship in sport fishing (fly fishing) was held in Plav, on Lake Plav, on the rivers Ljuča and Lim.
This speaks volumes about the value, potential and attractiveness of the waters in the municipality of Plav and the fish stock, which are recognized not only in Europe but all over the world.
Apart from this competition, the best proof of this is the sports fishermen who have been coming to Plav for years from all the meridians of the world.
The well-preserved natural environment, clean water and diverse flora and fauna of the rivers and lakes are real lures for passionate fishermen and sportsmen. Of course, the multi-year efforts of the members of the "Plavsko jezero" sport-fishing club to preserve the waters and the fish stock in them have yielded results.
Lake Plav, the Lim and Ljuča rivers are a true paradise for sport fishing. Every angler's dreams and wishes are fulfilled here, with whatever technique he wants to fish. Fish that can be found are: bream, pike, endemic "mud" trout, grayling, brook trout, sable or chub.
The atmosphere is equally beautiful and pleasant when you are fishing on the lake from a raft or from a boat, or when you are casting a line from the river bank or you have stepped into waist-deep water.
